New Senate District

Well the Mississippi Senate has released it's proposed new senate districts. In our district, Senate District 39
The portion of Simpson County has been removed and the Northwest corner of Marion County including Columbia has been put in.

I wonder what you the voters in District 39 think about this? Geographically Simpson County was directly above Lawrence County. Marion County does border us, but not to the degree Simpson does. Both counties are rural in nature, when Simpson was in neither Magee nor Mendenhall were part of the district. The new district does include Columbia.

In my opinion it's about a wash for District 39. Simpson and Lawrence county both lost population in the 2010 census and to keep the districts equally populated this was most likely the easiest way to it.
